10 October 1999

Hi Rita :-)

Hope it's as sunny with you as it is with me - although I've finally lost the image of sunny Mount Grace that I originally got from the English Heritage booklet! I hope even more that it's sunny next weekend, when we meet at last . . .

I've spent quite an interesting morning going through my old dance school uniforms, last seen twenty or more years ago. I had a phone call from a photographer called Ashley a few days ago, asking if I would be interested in exploring my memories of dance training in images as he has to do a project on memory for his college course. I thought this was very good timing, given the memories and issues that were stirred up in Finland last week, so we are doing a shoot tomorrow night. I worked with Ashley recently doing a nude shoot and feel very comfortable with him, so from that point of view I think it will be a safe project to work on, although I do have mixed feeling about the fact that, yet again, my private experiences are becoming public. Oh well . . .

>Re:-website, I am afraid that I am completely at sea, Tim just thought the sketches would be better a little bigger, because you can't read the writting very well. Would you mind if I left this with you, l trust your judgement, and am embarassed at my lack of knowledge on this subject.

With regard to the sketches on the website, the legibility is more a problem with the original scans than anything else, but I'll see if there's anything I can do to improve them. Don't worry about lack of knowledge on the technical front - we each work in our own medium(a), and I don't have any embarrassment about the fact that I know f-all about the craft skills involved in making this piece, even at the times when my lack of knowledge is clearly causing you problems! But you don't have to know anything about it to have totally valid opinions and ideas; it's only down to me to make them work.

>Here is a picture of me from the Northern Echo 1st October 1999!

I am glad to know from your previous email that you were fed up with being made to pose on the wet grass, or I would have captioned it "What on earth does that bloody woman want us to do now?!" ;-)

>Re:- siting of sculpture, great let's go for history.

I think that makes most sense - thanks for the map. I can't wait to see it finally IRL.

>Here's a few pics of M.G.Footprints, the source of the spring and the geese. Honk! Honk!

I really like the way the footprints look, and the source of the spring looks beautiful - again, I can't wait to see them IRL. And might I ask if there are any Mount Grace goslings? (Apart from the virtual one!)

I'm going out to a gathering of disabled dykes this afternoon, but will keep checking the email.

Have a good day

Love
