>Quick note, lots of images for you to look at and think about, I'll be back again hopefully Thursday afternoon.

Hi Rita

Now I've got loads to think about and keep me busy! In the meantime, is there anything that you could write to me about them too?

One technical point: I'm only looking at things onscreen, so 72dpi is fine to scan images in. Also, I don't have a very big monitor, so bear this in mind when scanning so that I can see the full image at once. (I'll cut these ones down in Photoshop tomorrow before spending a lot more time looking at them.)

My head's still following a meandering route around religion, and at the moment is with the relationship between Goddess religion and Mary's place within Catholicism, particularly in the time of the Carthusians. I guess one aspect which has always interested me is the change in worship from the sexual mother to the virgin mother with the growth of Christianity.

I'd like to find out more about the Carthusians soon, too - the little I've found out so far intrigues me a great deal, particularly in a European context. Apparently Ken Campbell has written a book on his research into the Order (to create a performance which unfortunately I never saw), and there must be more conventional books too. Can Tim help with this, in terms of finding out from English Heritage? Also, apart from lack of cash, I can't actually carry books home from a library or bookshop, so the most obvious way of acquiring them isn't open to me. I can search Amazon.com for what's in print, but my guess is that most of the relevant reading *isn't* in print.

I don't know whether any of this preliminary thinking will be obvious from the work we create, but for me it's part of the process anyway. I like exploring connections, too, especially lateral ones (I guess that's why I like working with hypertext, because you can make those connections explicit).

Looking forward to hearing from you again soon.

Best wishes.
