Folk in Motion

Hey Girls!

Hey Girls! is a dance for two pairs, facing each other. First published by Cecil Sharp as 'Hey, Boys, Up Go We' in 1911, the dance dates back to at least 1679, when it was published in the English Dancing Master as 'Cuckolds all a Row'. Cecil Sharp changed the name for reasons of propriety, confusing it in the process with a very different dance with the same title, so we have taken the liberty of renaming it again. You can watch a teaching video of the dance here, and download all of the resources that you need to learn it yourselves.
