Landscaped Tableware and Beakers
Lisa-Dionne Morris

Lisa-Dionne Morris's prototype Landscaped Tableware is made of plaster. It is designed to be used by people who, as a result of strokes or other impairments, use one hand to eat with rather than two. Two plates in varying sizes have one small indented circle in them to aid with gripping, and a larger indented circle for food. Because the areas for food are indented, a person using the tableware can push their food against the side of the indentation to make it easier to get the food on to a fork or spoon.

A third piece of the tableware uses the same overall design, but the indentation is much deeper, forming a bowl. When the tableware goes into production, the bowl will be surrounded by a vacuum, keeping food hot - or cold - for longer. This is in order to compensate for the fact that eating may be a slow process.

Meanwhile the beaker is made of blue glass, which becomes less opaque at the top, making it easier to see. Rather than being vertical, the beaker rises at an angle of around 45 degrees, and is indented at the base, making it easier to grip.
