Felt Slippers
Liz Rice with Doreen Rice, Laurie Chattington and Allan Mackenzie

The pair of slippers shown on the website are made of scarlet felt, and are displayed on the blue perspex leg splints which eight-year-old Laurie Chattington was wearing when the slippers were made for him. The slippers open down almost the full length of the slipper to make them easier to put on and take off, and are fastened with red laces which can be adjusted around the braces. The 'tongues' of the slippers are made of darker red felt, and the slippers are finished off with cuffs of the same colour which fasten around the ankle. Within the exhibition, other examples of Liz Rice's slippers are available for handling.
