Ergonomic Blown Glass Beakers
Marianne H. Buus with Steve Rigby

These beautiful beakers are made of plain but frosted glass, in order to improve their visibility to people with visual impairments. They come in a variety of types and shapes, including wine glasses, goblets and tumblers. Each one has been designed to be gripped easily and naturally. For example, one tumbler is a cylinder shape, but becomes more narrow in the middle, while another tumbler has two indentations in the centre to make it more easy to grip. The beakers are also substantial, so can be gripped firmly without fear of breakage. Within the exhibition, examples of the beakers are available to handle.
