Splints

The splints provided to us are so often just brown
or beige.
I have to wear these splints, but often I didn't wear them as they were dull.
Being a fashion / knitwear designer I have created
my own collection
to co-ordinate within my wardrobe. These are made from neoprene,
as the outer layer and denim interior.
Some of these splints are padded with foam for
extra support.
As well as adorned with diamante buckles, coloured vilene or leather,
which wears in a wonderful old worn and battered way.
I have created pieces which are better for kids
eg the grey and red ‘ant’ splint has the outer cover knitted by me
in lycra and wool
to create an interesting fabric and a more sporty mesh for the fasteners.
I am enjoying making these to commission
and hope to have regular coloured splints to sell off the shelf in various sizes.
